  1. Most of the goals on my FIG Goals sheet were about law school. Specifically, I want to learn about the law school at Mizzou, and learn about what you need to get accepted into law school. I think that Jake and Dean Bailey can answer any questions I have as well as provide insight to the admissions process.

I enjoyed the tour of the law school. One thing that I realized on the tour was how intimate the law school felt. There weren’t a lot of people in the building, and it seemed like there aren’t that many law students in the program. This is probably the reason I liked it so much; it looked like students were in small classrooms and worked one-on-one with their professors. When I’m in law school, I definitely plan on using the library available to me, and the other resources in law school.

    Interesting Facts:
Peter – Played soccer all of his life
Mac – Has hunted in the mountains
    Robert – Has been skydiving
Angie – Wants to become a Way With Words tutor
    Tatiana – From Chicago
Trace – Both of his parents are judges
Casi – Doesn’t like math or science
Genesse – Her high school mascot was the Spoofhounds
    Jake – From Indiana

The thing that drew me to Mizzou was its size. Coming from a small town, I wanted to go to a college that had a “big college” atmosphere. I looked at other smaller state colleges, but nothing compared to Mizzou. I also chose Mizzou, because it is a nationally know university. I know that when I graduate from here, people will be impressed at my accomplishment because I am a Mizzou grad. Growing up, I was a MU fan, but around 8th grade was when I really knew that this is where I wanted to go to college.

  2. I had a lot of different goals for my next four years at Mizzou. I don't want to discuss all of them because that would take forever, but the one that really stands out in my mind is to pass all my classes this semester/year. At my high school I never really had to study or even worrying about failing because my classes were really laid back and simple. I know I never really developed good study habits and I know that is an EXTREMELY important part of college. Although I wish Jake could help me with this goal, I know that it will be something I have to take upon myself to really buckle down and study...well.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to tour the law school because I was spending some not-so-much-fun time in the ER that morning. I wish I could have been there though to see where I could possibly be studying in the coming years. It would be beneficial for me at some point to walk through it at some point though!

Genesse was the Valedictorian of her class.
    Peter loves the show Entourage.
Tyler had 47 people in his graduating class.
Angie had an interview for a teaching position on Friday.
    Tatiana loves Barack Obama.
    Claire is an MSA Senator.
Casi traveled all over the world with her mom.
    Sophie works at Gumby's.
Jake was a Summer Welcome Leader.

Originally, I wanted to go to Duke University in North Carolina. I had my heart set on it and Mizzou was sort of like my back up plan. But, after finding out I wouldn't hear from Duke until April, I started to look at my other options. When I began looking more closely at Mizzou, I started to realize all that it had to offer. It was one of the top-ranked schools in the nation and I had never heard anyone who attended Mizzou speak bad of it. Pretty soon after, I knew that Mizzou was where I wanted to be and here I am!

My top priority within this FIG class is to use the resources and knowledge available to me through the law school to help better my understanding of what I plan to face after Mizzou. The FIG class being centered around law and held within the law school will help immensely along with my peers similar interest in law. Although I do not plan to attend the law school at Mizzou, the experience from the class will help my understanding in what law school will entail.

    Part II
I enjoyed the tour of the law school thoroughly especially with the fact that the tours were led by those enrolled. The information they provided about law school was helpful in preparing for it myself. The library made my imaginary intellectual salivary glands moisten with the joy at the image of myself in four years rigorously studying the thick volumes late into the evening. Did I mention I enjoy law?

    Part III
    Claire is an MSA senator.
Tyler is also an MSA senator.
    Robert is from Branson.
    Alex is also from Branson.
    Zoey was born in Romania.
Sophie is from Columbia and went to Rock Bridge.
Peter plays a lot of soccer.
Tatiana went to a small high school and likes Obama.
Jake double majors in philosophy and sociology. He plans on going to law school.

    Part IV
The fact that it is fairly close to St. Louis and the price both attracted me to this school. The size also made it appealing for I came from a large high school and would not enjoy a small college in the least. I saw Mizzou as a chance to leave St. Louis, the only place I have ever inhabited, yet close enough so that when needed, I could venture back to the 314. I figured most of my high school career I would end up at Mizzou, and I seemed to have been correct.

  4. Part I
My ultimate goal is to prepare myself for law school. Almost everything I do academically during my undergraduate career will be to get me to where I want to go after I graduate-preferably an ivy league law school. That being said, I expect resources and information from the FIG that will help me in this process. I have been satisfied already even in the two meetings we've had as a FIG because I've received information regarding the law school and the pre-law fraternity. One of the expectations I remember was an open-mind. The reason I put this down is because I find that everyone comes to college with strong political ideaologies and that can get in the way of productive discussion.

    Part II
I enjoyed every minute of the law school tour. I was especially interested in the family law program that the tour guide mentioned. Although I intend to apply to many different law schools I will always have mizzou close to my heart and I'm going to apply here as well. Since I intend on joining the pre-law fraternity I am sure I will be using the law school's resources regularly.

    Part III.
I apologize in advance for how not interesting my facts are compared to everyone else's. Since I live on a different floor and I'm constantly swamped with homework, work, and other activities I haven't found time to get to know a lot of my FIG yet. But here's what I remember from the little time I've spent with everyone:
    Tatiana is from chicago.
    Zoey was born in Romania.
    Casi is an English major.
    Gennessee is from Maryville.
    Peter plays soccer.
    Trace is a democrat.
Jake was a summer welcome leader.
    Robert is from Branson.

    Part IV.
I've lived in Columbia my whole life and I've been a mizzou fan my whole life. I mean this literally-the first mizzou game I attended was with my dad and I was two years old and dressed up in a ridiculous cheerleading outfit with my face painted. This is my dad's alma-mater and his pride has naturally transferred to me over the years. I'm so excited to finally be a part of Mizzou since I've watched it for 18 years. Now I'm not just a tiger fan, I'm also a tiger. I've known from day one that this is the school for me.

Most of the goals listed on my sheet were to improve my experience at Mizzou as a Political Science Major. I expressed a want to better my knowledge in both law and politics, and decide whether or not law school is the right course of action for me. I imagine this FIG class will give me a chance to experience what law school is all about and will help me to decide if that is where I want to go in life. I am quite sure Jake and Dean Bailey will be able to assist me in any decisions or questions I have.
    Part II
I loved the tour of the Law School, seeing as how I had never been there or to any other Law School before. I realized that Law School is basically a full time job, but without the pay. I liked how there are multiple resources for law students to use in the building including study areas and books. I am certain I will be using many resources-books- in my undergraduate studies. I also thought the Law School was a little overwhelming at first, but it was nice to have students who were enrolled in the school giving the tour. It gave more of a perspective of what being a law student would be like.
    Part III
Robert has a brother adopted from Romania.
Stephanie wants to go to Law School in Chicago
    Claire plays volleyball
Dean Bailey often travels all over MO.
    Alex is from Branson
    Sophie is adopted.
Casi doesn’t like math and science.
Tyler came from a small town.
Mac knows a lot about guns.
    Part IV
I have always been drawn to Mizzou, from its size to its sports centered atmosphere. I went to an all- girls private high school after going to a private grade school. I was more than ready to get into my first public school!

My goals have pretty much been set since the age of 9. I've been fascinated with government and history ever since so my career ambitions certainly reflect my interests. My goals for MU included maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA and being in positions of leadership at school and in the community. As for life-long goals, I want to get heavily involved in politics and be elected to the House of Representatives and eventually be appointed as an ambassador for the U.S.A. I know these are lofty, but I believe that with hard work, determination, and, no doubt, luck, I can achieve these. Also getting to know Poli Sci professors wouldn't hurt. :) Jake and Dean Bailey will certainly be great for advice and answering any questions I might have.

    II.
I loved the Law School tour. I am still considering Law School as a possibility, so I enjoyed the opportunity to see what it was really like from someone who actually attends. It was exciting to observe the students in the classes and think, "hey, that could be me in a few years." I was surprised by the fact that the school was so small. Don't get me wrong, that's not bad, it just didn't register that something as prestigious as law school would be more akin to high school. My favorite part of the school, was not, contrary popular to belief, the "Rare Book Room" where, believe it or not, there are indeed rare books. I liked the entire library due to the fact that each student gets his or her own desk and there are four floors (so much information, so little time). As an undergrad, I am hoping to make use of the library there because there are so many resources available.

    III.
Tyler is an MSA Senator and RHA Representative... we're kind of like twins!
Stephanie is going to learn Arabic.
Robert despite having been on the golf team, can actually throw a football pretty dang well.
Steve is really smart in Calculus.
Alex is from Branson, yet has never been to a show.
Casi gets to go with her Mom when she travels all over.
Sophie works at Gumby's (and sometimes gets screwed over with her shifts!)
    Trace loves soccer!
Jake is really good at acting like David from "David after the Dentist"

    IV.
I fell in love with Mizzou's campus. It was absolutely beautiful. Also, I love tradition, and Mizzou is has tons! My Mom, and sister went to this school, so I've seen lots of the place growing up. Plus some of my mom's side of the family lives in Columbia, so it is nice to have them close. I've known, I think subconsciously at least, that I'd end up here forever. I shopped around at other schools, but I really felt at home here. Getting that letter on October 31, 2008 telling me this was going to be my new home, was just icing on the cake!

My goals included getting a better feel of Mizzou as a whole. I said a lot about becoming more involved in activities at school. i also made a goal that focused on me earning a great GPA (preferably a 4.0) this year so that I could be accepted into the journalism school. Overall my goals all dealt with having a successful year at Mizzou. I plan to achieve my goals by making sure I complete every assignment, remain engaged in every class discussion, and keeping close relationships with my professors. The Politics and Law fig can help me achieve my goals of staying involved with the many activities that we're doing. It also gives me great opportunity to be close to the people i live with.

    Part 2
I thought the tour of the Law School was very informative. I honestly learned a lot of new things about the school's law program. I had no idea that it was a top 100 ranked law school in the country. The part of the tour that I liked the most was the tour of the library and the partial tour of the classrooms. I loved how the lecture halls were designed so that each student had more space that the average lecture hall classroom at Mizzou. I don't know if i'll use many resources in the Law school at Mizzou because I'm a journalism major but it's great to know they are available.

    Part 3

    Tyler- MSA Senator
    Peter- Loves Soccer
    Zoey- Born in Romania
    Angie- From Arnold Missouri
    Sophie- Is adopted
    Stephanie- wants to learn Arabic
    Robert- Is from Branson Missouri
    Casi- Is an English major
    Jake- Worked at Summer Welcome

    Part 4

The first thing that drew me to Mizzou was it's beautiful campus. I visited Mizzou for the Brooks scholarship interview. I wasn't really interested in this school before I saw it. I was set on going to U of I. Then I found out that Mizzou had an exceptional Journalism school and that was a huge factor in my decision. When I received the George C. Brooks scholarship it only made me want to come here more. I love the location of the university because it's not too close and not too far from Chicago. There are also many people from Chicago attending MU this year so I feel right at home.

One of the goals I listed was to maintain at least a 3.5 GPA for the first semester. I plan to achieve this by attending all of my classes and also completing all of my homework assignments, as well as any supplemental readings. I believe that Jake can help me if I choose to attend his study session.

    Part II
I found the tour of the law school to be very informative. I was suprised how extensive the collection of texts in the library was, and that room in particular was probably my favorite. I had no idea whatsoever that the MU law school was as prestigious as it is in the rankings of law schools across America. While the law school has a vast collection of resources, they probably pertain mostly to the field of law, so I will probably not use very many of those resources simply because I don't intend to go into law.

    Part III
    Alex is from Branson, Missouri.
Robert rode to his high school's prom in a helicopter.
Mac is pretty much a beast when it comes to tennis.
    Paul is legally blind.
Claire is part of the CARS delegation.
    Stephanie has a nose piercing.
Zoey won a type of contest.
    Trace likes soccer.

    Part IV
Mizzou drew me in because it is just far enough from home, yet close enough if I need to go back. I also really like the city of Columbia, because of all the available things to do here. I've known that I was going to Mizzou since the beginning of my senior year of high school. I also really like the residence hall in which I live. The room is very nice, and comparable to that of a prestigious hotel. The people on my floor are all very friendly and we always have a good time

  10. Part I
The most important goals I listed on my goal sheet were a desire to achieve the same academic success in college that I achieved in high school and to discover, hopefully sooner rather than later, what I want to do with my future. I chose the Politics and Law FIG because I’ve recently discovered that law really interests me, but I’m not sure if it interests me enough to make it my career. I hope that being a part of this FIG will allow me to learn more about careers in law and whether or not these careers fit me. To reach my goal of outstanding grades, I just need to manage my time and make studying my first priority.

    Part II
I had never been inside a law school before, so I really enjoyed the tour. I was impressed to learn that Mizzou’s law school ranks high in certain areas of law education. My favorite part of the law school was the library. I love libraries of any kind; they’re the perfect place to study, because they’re wonderfully quiet. I can’t see myself using resources at the law the school at this moment, but maybe I will later in my time as an undergraduate.

    Part III
    Sophie is a Phi Mu.
Morgan is from town called Clever.
    Trace hates the Cardinals.
    Claire is an MSA senator.
    Tatiana is from Chicago.
Tyler is from a really small town.
    Genesse is from Maryville, MO.
    Stephanie is from St. Louis.
Jake was a summer welcome leader.

    Part IV
I fell in love with Mizzou’s beautiful campus when I attended the Missouri Scholars Academy in 2007. After that, Mizzou was always near the top of my list of potential colleges. Of all the colleges I applied to, Mizzou wasn’t my top choice, but, after being rejected by my dream school, I chose to come here. After spending just a few days on campus, I realized that Mizzou is the perfect school for me, and I can’t imagine myself anywhere else.

The main goal I have for my first semester at Mizzou is to remain a 3.5 GPA. To achieve these goals I plan to attend all my classes and stay caught up on all my reading. Another one of my goals is too become integrated with all the different groups at Mizzou. Jake can help me attain these goals by helping with my studying and helping me understand time management.

    Part II.
With intentions of going to Law School the tour was very influential and a great experience. My favorite part of the Law School was seeing the library. I plan to use it as a resource throughout my college career.

    Part III.
Robert- He once had an awkward situation, just to see what it felt like.
Claire- She is a beast volleyball player.
Mac- His family owns a heavy machinery business.
Steve- He broke his collar bone and had to have surgery.
Zoey- She was adopted from Romania, and is a direct descendent of Dracula.
Stephanie- She wants to work as an International Attorney.
Peter- He is a huge Michigan Wolverine fan or in otherwords he supports cheating to win.
Tyler- He has an amazing blog.

    Part IV.
When I first visited Mizzou I immediately fell in love with the campus and the town. Mizzou is also one of best academic schools that I was interested in.

Most of the goals of on my sheet were about maintaining a good GPA during my college career. I plan on doing this by studying hard and being well prepared for class and tests. Law is something that interests me and being in this FIG is helping me to decide if it is something that I would like to further pursue. Jake and Dean Bailey help by just informing me of the school and law itself.

    Part II

The tour of the Law School was very informative. It showed me that the school has wonderful facilities and provides all the tools needed to be successful as a law student. The area I liked the most and the resource I would probably use the most was and library, it was extremely large and seemed to have a book for any subject. It was three stories and I found it pretty cool that each student gets their own study desk.

    Part III

Alex- has the sexiest roommate on the floor
Steve- likes taking late night showers
Mac- likes to keep the bathroom floor clean
Tyler- has a very informative blog about his experiences at MU
Claire- makes one heck of a receiver
    Zoey- call her at 1-314-368-2081
Trace- wants to be a lawyer
Peter- is taking German and finds it interesting

Jake- has the ability to grow a mane

    Part IV

The University of Missouri has always been one of the schools that I wanted to attend. After going to many football games and visiting the campus last year my decision was made that I wanted to attend school here. I’m a huge sports fan so the recent success of the athletic program was a lure for me to come here as well.

  14. 1. One of my goals was to ace all of my classes. I am carrying a minimal course load to make sure I don’t overload myself with Marching Mizzou and my most difficult class will be honors geography, so I don’t think this will be all that difficult of a goal to reach. Another one of my goals was to make the most of my first semester of college. I have already started on this goal by making it into the Missouri Drum Line. This past weekend I got to travel with the band to the MU v Illinois game. It was an awesome experience and I can already tell that I am in for a fun and exciting fall and season of Tiger football.

    2. I thought the tour of the Law School was cool. I had already visited the Law School several times, but it was interesting to see the Law School from a student’s point of view. I saw a few areas that were new to me and learned of some of the student organizations that are run through the Law School.

    3. Jake was a summer welcome leader.
Trace loves England…and the Patriots…and USC football…and Sarah Cleveland.
Mac was in a national honor choir.
Those are really the only people I know…

    4. What drew me to Mizzou was the environment I knew I would be in. Mizzou has a very caring and helpful environment. Last fall I came to a Mizzou football game and got to know some of the people on the drumline and see what M2’s Line was all about. Even though I was only in high school I was treated like one of them and I knew that this would be a good place to be. Also, Mizzou is relatively close to home for me, as well as being much more affordable than out of state institutions. I didn’t know that I was coming to Mizzou until probably around mid February of my senior year.

  15. There are many goals I listed on the sheet, but there are two specifically that come to mind. I want to maintain a 3.5 or higher gpa. This is very important to me, with the goals I have for my life past college. Getting into a top 5 law school is a goal past the University of Missouri that is very important to me and this requires me to have a high gpa. My second major goal here is to enjoy my time here, make new friends. I have been told that the friends you make in college are the ones that you keep for the rest of your life.

The tour of the law school was very interesting, it is a wonderful law school. I was very surprised to see so many different organizations in the actual law school. The library was a very important area for me. It is very impressive and I am sure it is a major asset to every student that goes there. I have no classes with in the law school, so at this point it is difficult to see myself using any resources within the law school.

    Paul- Is in the drumline
    Mac- Was all-state in choir
    Tyler- Worked in a campaign
    Casi- Likes Wicked
Peter- Went to Springfield Sacred Griffin High School
Sophie- Works at local pizza shop
    Jake- Is a Colts fan
    Robert- Is from Branson

I visited Marquette, Purdue, and Indiana. Out of those schools I like Marquette the best and planned to go there. Then I visited Missouri, the second I walked on campus I loved how things were done here. Missouri is a perfect fit for me, I have known I wanted to come here since I visited in June after my junior year. This is place I belong and will stay here all four years.

One of my first goals was to get settled in and meet new people. I plan on doing this by going to events in my hall and getting involved in activities around campus. Another goal of mine was to maintain good grades. I plan to go to all my classes and study every day. I also don't want to get behind. One of my other goals was to learn more about law school and the application process. I plan to accomplish this by attending my fig class and taking advantage of all the opportunities it gives me. I also want to make sure law school is something a want to pursue in the future and the best way to be accepted to the school that is right for me. My PA can help by being there to answer questions and giving me advice when I need it.

    Part II
I really enjoyed the tour of the law school. It was my first time to see a law school, and I learned a lot. It was also nice to be able to talk and ask questions to a current law student. I learned about the huge time commitment law school requires and that there are a ton of student activities within the law school. I loved the library. It was so quiet, and i liked the fact that there were desks that all the students could leave there books at during the year. I also like the lockers. I thought it was nice that there is always someone in the library to help students find materials.

    Part III
Morgan's high school news program was called the "Very Clever News."
Peter has played soccer since he was a little boy.
Tyler won a video contest during homecoming week at his high school.
    Claire is a MSA senator.
    Zoe is from Romania.
    Paul is legally blind.
    Casi travels with her mom.
Sophie is a Phi Mu and works at Gumby's.
Jake was a Summer Welcome leader and is double majoring.

    Part IV
I have known since I started high school that I wanted to attend Mizzou. It is the perfect distance from Maryville. Columbia is far enough away that I still feel like I am going away to college and can't run home for everything I need, but it is close enough that I can still go home if I want. I had also heard from a lot of people how much fun Mizzou is. I have never heard anything bad about it from anyone. I liked that Mizzou has a law school on campus as well.

Some of the goals I had listed on the sheet were to learn more about politics and the law through this class, and to have a good grade in the class by always attending and being a helpful part of the classroom. I believe the FIG program is a great opportunity for me to expand my knowledge of politics and the law by informing me of current events, giving me the atmosphere of the law school, and assignments with my peers.

    PART II
I throughly enjoyed the tour of the Law School. It was large, but not overwhelmingly large, and had great stories behind it. I didn't know much about the law school going into it, so I learned many things such as how we have a considerably small amount of law students which allows for more peer attention. I also learned we have a variety of guest speakers such as Sandra Day O'Conner visit our school and speak to the students. I liked the lounges the most because the school itself seems stressful and they are very quaint and relaxing. I will probably use the library the most there, though.

    PART III
Tatiana- Went to a college prepatory high school
    Tyler-Is from Adrienne MO
Peter- Was the class clown of high school
    Sophie- Works at Gumby's
Casi- Enjoys travelling with her mother
    Robert- Is from Branson MO
Genesse- Was in summer welcome group 13
    Morgan- Is from Springfield, MO
Jake- Has been with his girlfriend for about 3 years

    PART IV
Mizzou was always the obvious choice for me. It is close enough to where it isn't a big hassle going home, but far away enough to where my family can't pop in at any second. I have been involved in my school newspaper since the 7th grade and have known it was my passion. Relizing MU is the best journalism school, and just the overall atmosphere of the place made the choice pretty easy. I was researching and figuring out that I wanted to spend 4 years of my life here as early as middle school.

  18. Part 1-
My goals for my first semester of college are to achieve a better GPA than my older brother. Basically to show him up and to show my parents that just because i got C's in High School doesn't mean I'm an idiot. I also want to stay away from the Mizzou 22 and become rock solid. I guess the thing that would help the most from Jake would be to help out with awareness for help with class and to just be a good PA.
    Part 2-
I really did enjoy the Law School tour even though i'm majoring in Business, i think the part i liked best would be when we where walking through the library and i was passing through the books thinking "if i could know all the stuff in these books i would be set. for life." Oh yea, and the fact that Mizzou's Law School is the shiz in litigation, mitigation, and arbitration is a nice fun fact. I don't know if i will use the library much for my undergrad based on the fact that i am not interested in anything law wise except international trading laws, and thats purely an interest nothing academic.
    Part 3-
    Paul-can get great parking anywhere.
    Trace-great taste in sunglasses
    Rob-will be a millionaire someday
Tyler-I will vote for Tyler for the Senate
Jake-will only answer to 1/10 texts, unless you're rachel
Steve-when riding with Steve it's almost like a free carnival ride, always on the edge of your seat.
Alex-just one of those all-around good guys you hear about
    Peter-will be a famous stand-up performer
    Part 4-
I was drawn to Mizzou as a little kid, I used to go to Mizzou basketball games all the time. My grandpa bought season tickets for our family that were right on the floor next to where the team would come out of the locker rooms. So after every game, win or lose, no matter what i would have to chance to give the players a high five as they went back into the locker room after the game. I always remember that Arthur Johnson would be drenched with sweat but when he slapped my hand it was freezing cold. It was great - Brian Grawer, Ricky Paulding, I kinda just always wanted to come here.

Part 1- Some of my goals I listed on the sheet were to pass the class and to make friends with all my figmates. There are many ways to achieve these goals, they shouldn’t be too difficult. As long as I show up to all of my fig classes and complete my assignments I will pass the class. Also if I am open to all of my figmates we’ll be good friends. Jake and dean bailey could help me with these goals by organizing fun and exciting events for our fig.
Part 2- I thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the law school. The guy that led the tour was very knowledgable and answered all of the questions I had for him. I was amazed at how the law school was a kind of community on its own. I learned that law schools are very competetive and stressful for their students. I also saw that there are many places where law students can just plop down and study in silence. I liked the library the best because it demonstrated the sheer number of resources the law students had at their disposal. I will most likely make use of their library as an undergraduate.
Part 3- I learned that Genesse’s high school mascot was the spoofhound. Morgan is from a very small town named Clever. Tyler graduated from a class of 43 kids. Angela has a tattoo of a peacock on her hip. Tatiana is from chicago. Mac is from Marshall Missouri. Zoey Sparrow was born in Romania. Stephanie likes the rapper tha Joker. Jake Strickland was also a summer welcome leader.
Part 4- A lot of things drew me to Mizzou, probably number 1 was the big college feel that I knew I would get here. You are guarranteed this at a school with 30,000 people. The second thing that kind of sealed the deal for me was the fabulous campus. The campus is so beautiful and well put together. I knew for a while I wanted to come here . I made my choice early senior year.
